      Installation

Installing Tanks in Areas with Groundwater: Non-Trafficable Applications

Installing your Enduramaxx underground tank is a straightforward process, but it's crucial to follow these steps carefully to ensure a secure and long-lasting installation.

      1. Prepare the Excavation:

Measure the Inlet Depth: Check the tank's inlet pipe depth to determine the required excavation depth. Refer to the tank's specifications for this information.

Dig the Hole: The excavation hole should be 500mm wider on all sides than the tank itself. Ensure the hole is level and has sufficient load-bearing capacity.

Manage Water: If water is present in the hole, pump it out during installation. Line the walls with heavy-duty sheeting for waterproofing.

      2. Create a Stable Base:

Lay the Concrete Base: Pour a minimum of 200mm (8") of 20MPa concrete in the bottom of the hole and level it thoroughly.

Positioning the Tank: Once the base is hardened, carefully lower the tank using suitable lifting equipment. Avoid dropping stones or sharp objects into the hole, as this can damage the tank. Fill the tank with at least ¼ of its capacity with water to act as ballast.

      3. Backfill and Secure:

Backfill with Concrete: Once the tank is positioned correctly, backfill the hole with at least 250mm of concrete, allowing for a 200mm overlap at the top of the tank.

Compacting the Concrete: Carefully tamp the concrete around the tank (avoid using mechanical compaction machines). Ensure no damage occurs to the tank during this process.

Stabilize with Water: Gradually fill the tank with water until the water level reaches the backfill height. This helps stabilize pressure on the tank. Leave the water in the tank until the concrete has fully cured.

When installing your Enduramaxx underground tank in an area with no vehicle traffic, follow these specific steps to ensure a secure and long-lasting installation:

      1. Determining Excavation Depth:

Inlet Pipe Depth: Refer to the tank's inlet pipe specifications to determine the required excavation depth.

Minimum Clearance: Regardless of the inlet pipe depth, the minimum distance between the tank bottom and the underside of the inlet pipe must be 600mm (24").

      2. Excavation Hole Preparation:

Recommended Size: Dig the excavation hole 300mm (12") wider than the tank on all sides.

Concrete Base (Optional): If there's no risk of water ingress or flooding, lay a minimum 100mm (4") thick concrete base in the excavation hole.

      3. Lowering the Tank:

Wet Concrete: While the concrete base is still wet, use suitable lifting equipment to carefully lower the tank onto it.

Safety Precautions: Ensure no stones or sharp objects fall into the excavation during this process, as they can damage the tank.

      4. Leveling and Securing:

Position Check: Once the tank is in place, verify its level and position. Adjust or use props as needed before leaving it to settle.

Weather Protection: Cover the top of the excavation with a tarpaulin or polyethylene sheeting to protect it from rain or wildlife.

      5. Initial Water Filling:

Ballasting: Fill the tank with water up to and over the first rib, or at least 300-400mm (12-16") deep. This provides initial stability.

      6. Final Backfilling:

Secure Tank: Ensure the tank is secure on its base and won't move sideways.

Concrete Backfill: Pour concrete around the tank up to at least the level of the first reinforcing rib.

By following these steps, you can ensure a safe and secure installation for your Enduramaxx underground tank.
